Sue is a seasoned Occupational Therapist with expertise in Moving and Handling, Postural Management, Equipment Provision, and both Minor and Major Adaptations, including Specialist Seating. Sue possesses extensive expertise in managing complex Paediatric and Adult cases across a broad spectrum of conditions, including Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1, Mitochondrial Disease, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down's Syndrome, Cardiovascular Disease, Spinal Injuries, Learning Disabilities, and Behavioral Challenges. Sue provides services across the West and Southwest of England, including Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, and Wiltshire.
After graduating in 1999, Sue has primarily worked within Social Care, supporting both adults and children, while also engaging in private practice. Her broad expertise in the provision of equipment, with a special focus on specialist seating, has been instrumental in helping clients achieve greater independence and improved quality of life.
As a RoSPA-trained professional in the Moving and Handling of People, Sue’s skills are vital when working with families and children who have additional and complex needs. Her experience includes advising on and recommending minor and major adaptations, from straightforward ramp installations to complex home modifications like bedroom and bathroom extensions. Sue’s commitment to her clients extends to supporting families with rehousing needs, providing comprehensive reports that assess family requirements and recommend suitable housing options.
In addition to her work in home environments, Sue has conducted environmental assessments in schools, ensuring that necessary adaptations are in place to facilitate the inclusion of pupils with specific needs. Her practice is deeply client-centered, with a strong emphasis on hearing and prioritising the voices of the children and adults she serves.
