Katie

Working as an Occupational Therapist for over 10 years, Katie provides expert assessments and interventions to her clients. She specialises in Functional Rehabilitation and has gained invaluable expertise working within the NHS, Local Authorities, and in the private sector. Katie is based just outside of Halifax in West Yorkshire, covering a client base across Yorkshire & Lincolnshire and Greater Manchester.

Katie has a keen interest and expertise in physical rehabilitation, supporting clients with a wide variety of injuries and conditions including brain injury, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, stroke, amputations, and burns. Katie has worked in a range of sectors, developing a broad skill-set in most areas of OT, including trauma and orthopaedics, stroke and neurological rehabilitation, general medicine, older people, surgical, and respiratory.

Katie developed an expert understanding of hand therapy, burns and plastics whilst undertaking a role in several specialist units across the country as a senior therapist. She provided rehabilitation to patients in intensive care, primarily helping with positioning and splinting, fabricating and fitting splints in theatres, ward-based rehabilitation, social reintegration, scar management, and follow up therapy in the burns outpatient service. During this time, Katie also completed a Skin Camouflage Course with the British Association of Skin Camouflage and became an accredited Skin camouflage consultant.

Katie keeps up to date with research and best practise guidelines, partaking in continuing professional development activities including independent research/reading, attending courses and training, making use of specialist online resources, and peer reviews including regular in-service team trainings.
