Oonagh is a specialist Hand Therapist with over 10 years’ experience. She works with clients with injuries and conditions affecting the hands and upper limbs, supporting them with pain management, strength and mobility, and splinting. Oonagh is based in Bangor, just outside of Belfast, visiting clients in Antrim, Armagh, and Down.
Throughout her career, Oonagh has helped clients with a wide range of traumatic injuries including fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, soft tissue injuries, and the amputation of digits. She also works with clients experiencing chronic and long-term conditions affecting the hands and upper limbs such as carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic regional pain syndrome, and rheumatological conditions.
Oonagh completes detailed assessments of her client’s functional needs, creating bespoke treatment plans that focus on rehabilitation as well as the provision of specialised equipment. Her overall aim is to improve her client’s safety and independence at home and in the workplace, enabling them to effectively complete activities of daily living.
Oonagh is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy and the British Association of Hand Therapists. She regularly attends training courses to develop her skills and knowledge and to ensure that her practice is based on the most up to date evidence and research. Oonagh has completed several specialist courses including the BAHT level 2 course on the wrist, a master’s module on service improvement, and the Neuro-Orthopaedic Institute’s Explain Pain course.
